11/02/09 - Another year down...well for me anyway. The kids took me out for my birthday today to the 99, I let them choose and I think because it was right near where Logan has guitar...and they so badly wanted people to bring me cake and sing to me...it seemed like a good choice, and it was nothing short of perfect. For my gift Logan took one of my tall pint glasses and painted the cover to "Dark Side of the Moon" on it, it was such a special gift. Seeing it was my Bday the kids let me choose the artists I wanted to put on the bags.. I love Japanese Ukiyo-e artists ( wood block ), and Hokusai's " Under the Well of the Great Wave Off Kanagawa" is probably one of the most famous...throw in Logan's all-time favorite Japanese charater, Gozilla, but the "super friendly" Hanna Barbera version, and you have this weeks bags. Logan was "Eddie" from Iron Maiden for Halloween this year and I think that will be what next weeks is... he had a good time just out and about, even at 13 :) Thanks for a great Birthday Logan..... Love, Papa

11/09/09 - This week is "Cartoon Network's Best".. I have to say this show, Space Ghost " Coast to Coast" was to funny...the wit of the show made me think of Logan...he is starting to hold his own against my sarcasm :) We went down the Cape saturday and spent about 4 hours cleaning the yard, he got to use the mower for the 1st time and was in his glory. You could see how good he felt, that I trusted him, to use the mower ( secretly I was just always afraid to let him as he is still a babe to me :) ). That confidence carried over into everything he did that day...he took the inititave in the back yard in the way he raked and removed the leaves, how he assisted his sister as needed, and asking me what I needed done also. He is such a young man now... but I look at him and I always see that little boy sitting and watching Blue's Clues, singing along.....

11/16/09 - Well for us ( myself and the kids ) it has seemed like nothing except tests and grades... I am sure it is like that for most right now. For Logan it was his report card week , all A's and B+'s, and I was impressed by how great he was doing... I mean I know he does well and all but he went above and beyond, he's simply amazing at how he accomplishes this. Logan is so laid back, not one of those kids that makes excuses as to why he is difficult in school, or has to spend the day in the office... he just goes with the flow, accepts the challenges that are presented to him, and excels at them. Even at 13 he doesn't give me a hard time about doing school work...He's very fortunate that he is so very smart and capable. As of recent he has decided he wants to go to Art School, that makes me proud...unfortunately his school does not have a dedicated "Art Program" and will not provide him with what he will need for a RISD level education so I have been looking into alternative schools for education...Although I think he should attend the "School of Papa", I think I could teach him a thing or two :) This week was a take on Salvador Dali's " The Persistence of Time" and instead of "melting" time pieces, I added various Iron Maiden picture discs ( Lp's ) and had them melting away....
